Torugart is a long-established bulk freight corridor; exports mainly consist of general merchandise, machinery and equipment, tires, textiles and clothing, building materials, and fruits and vegetables, while imports mainly consist of Central Asian agricultural and livestock products such as hides and furs, silkworm cocoons, licorice, forage grass, and equine animals. In 2015, the China-Kyrgyzstan agricultural product fast-clearance "green channel" was opened, making imports of forage grass, fresh cherries, and similar categories smoother.
